For the Day #1 blog post of my tour, I’d like to share with you how I discovered the virtual book tour concept and what type of results I’ve experienced.
Many years ago I heard a colleague of mine mention that she was guest blogging on other blogs and that she had decided to take a “blog tour.” During her blog tour she “traveled” to a new blog, each week, for nine weeks. This immediately caught my attention and I put together my first blog tour.
A few years later, after publishing my second book, (Book Marketing Made Easy) I decided to promote it via a virtual tour, which I called a Virtual Book Tour. What happened from there was nothing short of a miracle.
I began my tour 3 months before the publication of the book, leading up to the launch. Because of the buzz I was creating via my 21-stop virtual book tour, my book went to best-seller status, within hours!
From there, authors began asking me to teach them about virtual book tours, which I did in a course called Virtual Book Tours Made Easy
One of the best things about a virtual book tour is the relationships you’ll form and friendships you’ll make, with bloggers and podcasters who host you on your tour. This will provide you with opportunities for building relationships with their readers and new audiences who discover you via the social networks.
Give thought to what message and ideas you’d like to share with the world. What audience, leaders, educators or marketers would you like to get to know personally or get to know better? What do you want to become known as an expert on? Decide on your niche focus, schedule several times a week to write, make connections with bloggers who attract your niche audience, and take your tour on the virtual road!
